Weight Loss and Obesity
Content Updated on June 2, 2009
Losing weight is not about looking good in a swimsuit. It's about being healthier, more energetic, and happier.
I may not be a medical expert, but I know lots about being overweight, being obese, trying to lose weight, weight loss techniques, falling off the wagon, yo-yo dieting, and and the scientific ideas behind metabolism. I've starved myself, binged, used food to deal with emotions, exercised obsessively, gone months without exercising, made resolutions, and given up only to start all over again. But I'm done with the chaos.
I'm learning that losing weight isn't just about knowing how to cut calories and burn calories. There are so many more emotional, psychological, and biological components to the process. It's not just about changing your diet or your lifestyle. It's about changing the way you think. This section is about what I've learned so far and how I've progressed. (I've still got a long way to go.)
I hope that in the following lists of articles and calculators you'll find something that helps you on your own weight loss journey to health.
