I have crystal and other dishes sitting up on the tops of my cabinets. They have accumulated grease and grim from sitting out. What or how do you recommend getting the grease and other things off of these dishes. I have tried vinegar in the dish washer and that doesn't get it all off. thanks

Tina,

Yup, putting vinegar in your dishwasher won't cut through a thick greasy buildup because the vinegar gets too diluted. I would recommend soaking them in a solution of 50% water and 50% vinegar or spray 100% vinegar onto the crystal. Then pour some baking soda onto a damp cloth. (You can use baking powder if you're worried that the baking soda may scratch your crystal...but in my experience baking soda works fine.) Rub gently and repeat. If you have a thick layer of grease on your crystal, it may take several repeats, and you may want to use a soft brush (such as a toothbrush) to remove the tough stuff.
