How old is Kristen's Guide?
Kristen's Guide actually started as several small websites that Kristen created between 1995 and 2002, hosted by various advertisement supported free hosting services. Each site was dedicated to one subject: Writer's Sphere (originally called Babblefish Masterpieces) focused on language and writing, Dagwench Universe focused on Kristen's own essays, The Classroom focused on education, The Christian Witch focused on religion and spirituality, and Universal Balance focused on the pursuit of having a better life and addressed a variety of topics. As a group, the sites grew into the inspiration for Kristen's Guide.
Kristen's Guide officially started on a free advertising supported website hosting server in 2002. In 2004, Jason Beck (no known relation to Kristen), offered to host the site on his server, http://www.talltree.us, without all the annoying ads of free hosting services. The new host required an official domain name, so, in 2004, http://www.kristensguide.com entered the domain name registry.
Ads are again used to financially support Kristen's Guide, but Kristen does her best to avoid letting those ads get too annoying, and advertisers NEVER influence the content of the site.
